During its 25 years in business, Coastal Hotels has solidified a national reputation as an innovator in developing, managing and marketing distinctive lodging destinations. The West Coast management company embraced another innovation by selecting Clean the World as its designated soap and hygiene amenity recycling partner.

Today Coastal Hotels manages four independent lodging properties:

     • The Resort at The Mountain in Welches, Ore.
     • The landmark Lodge on the Desert in Tucson, Ariz.
     • The iconic Semiahmoo Resort in Blaine, Wash.
     • The Best Western Plus Heritage Inn in Bellingham, Wash.

Cedarbrook Lodge embraces green practices across all departments, acknowledging that green initiatives are not only environmentally responsible, but economically beneficial too. The food and beverage team’s commitment to sustainability is evident in their decision to use a cutting-edge, 100 percent biodegradable and compostable sugarcane tableware product. Even Cedarbrook housekeeping staff uniforms are environmentally friendly while maintaining a sense of fashion and function. Made of 100 percent post-consumer drinking bottles, the uniform fabric – called Greenplus – saves natural resources and helps keep waste out of landfills.

Environmental conservation is an essential element of Lodge on the Desert’s mission and vision. The hotel embraces green practices across all departments, including sourcing food from local growers, converting used cooking oil to biodiesel fuels, and implementing paperless guest check-in and check-out.

The Resort at the Mountain was using sustainable business practices long before there was a global buzz about going green. In 2002, The Resort’s 27-hole golf course became a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, recognized for environmental excellence. With a long history of community leadership in “green” practices, The Resort at The Mountain continues to expand its commitment to sustainability by implementing a wide spectrum of eco-friendly policies. The Resort at The Mountain planted 11,000 new indigenous plants throughout the 300-acre property. The plants improve air quality, conserve water and harbor wildlife.

Featured in all Semiahmoo Resort guest rooms are ESA (Environmentally Sensitive Amenities) bath products. Certain products are packaged in biodegradable bottles. Hand-crafted vegetable-based soaps contain minimal preservatives and feature post-consumer non-bleached board, soy-based ink packaging.
