The American Cleaning Institute, formerly the Soap and Detergent Association, has signed on as a Silver Sponsor for the Inaugural Clean the World Gala, which is scheduled Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at The Peabody Orlando.
Nancy Bock, vice president of consumer education and meetings at ACI, sees the Gala as a business networking opportunity in the hospitality industry that “just makes sense” on so many levels.
“Our institute has been in existence since 1926, and we’ve focused on health and hygiene issues that relate to proper sanitation since the beginning,” Bock says. “An opportunity to partner with Clean the World and support this Gala is a win-win for us, and the partnership will improve living conditions for others around the world.”
Bock says ACI has been mindful of Clean the World since the first time she heard Clean the World co-founder Shawn Seipler speak about the “global hygiene revolution” at the 2010 Global Handwashing Day event in Washington, D.C.

“The moment I met Shawn and heard of the great work Clean the World was doing, I knew this was something we wanted to do,” she says. “ACI can be a gateway to opportunities for our industry to support Clean the World in many ways. All of the groups with which we are associated – NGOs, volunteer organizations, schools, nursing associations, etc. – can get involved with Clean the World in an important and meaningful way.”
Bock says she and her ACI colleagues intend to mix and mingle at the Gala among hospitality industry executives, vendors, and supporters of Clean the World.
“We’re very excited about Clean the World from a social sustainability perspective,” Bock says. “The Gala provides a tremendous opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the people who have embraced Clean the World’s mission. By becoming a Silver Sponsor at the Inaugural Clean the World Gala, we emphasize our desire to support society and promote hygiene for better living.
“It’s a healthy relationship,” she says. “It just fits like a comfortable shoe.”
